Note: The region of Transnistria-Pridnestrovie, located in the Moldavian eastern part (between Dnepr and Ukraine), declared its independence in September 1990, although it hasn’t yet been officially recognized by any country. The complete name of the region is Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika. It is 4,163 Km² wide and has 660,000 inhabitants (33% Moldavian, 29% Russian, 29% Ukrainian, 3% Bulgarian, 2% Polish, 2% Gagauz). The capital is Tiraspol, others larges cities being Bendery (121,000 inhabitants) and Rybnitsa (61,000 inhabitants).
